John Newton Center 2007 International Study Scholarships
2007
Tyndale Society Conference, Worchester England
The 2007 Tyndale Society
Conference, "Tasting the Word of God," in Worcester, England was
superbly well organized and orchestrated, and much edification and
enjoyment was had by all who had opportunity to join us. We had
quite a diversity of people from many walks of life, and a
remarkably interesting line-up of speakers and presenters.
We also did historical tours of Oxford, Worcester, Gloucester, and
London. Lectures were presented by Hon. Thomas E. Martin (Role of
Arthur in the Reformation), Rev. Phillip Arthur (Life and Work of
William Tyndale), Rev. Mostyn Roberts (William Tyndale's "The
Obedience of the Christian Man"), Mary Miles (Historical
Backgrounds), Stuart Owen (Richard Baxter), Dr. Robert Letham (Tyndale's
Heirs: the Westminster Assembly), Dr. Carl
Trueman
(John Hooper, Hugh Latimer), and Andras Mikesy (Tyndale and Luther
on the Epistle to the Romans). Simon Ward (who played James
Herriot in "All Creatures Great and Small") concluded the program
in Worcester Cathedral with a dramatic rendition of Hugh Latimer
preaching.
Overall, it was encouraging to learn more of the great leaders of
the English Reformation, and their efforts to get the Bible into
the language of the people. Please consider joining us next year
for one of our conference tours!

Scholarships
To promote understanding of historic Christianity and the contents
of the Bible, the John Newton Center occasionally grants
scholarships to students to attend conferences in North America
and abroad. Scholarships originate as designated,
tax-deductible gifts from private benefactors to the John Newton
Center for the expressed purpose of sponsoring students
for events such as the Third Tyndale Conference and the
Philadelphia Conference on Reformed Theology.
